Parma and Melor Expected in Taiwan
Although Parma is still lingering to the south of Taiwan, its status has been downgraded to tropical storm. Melor is now being called a super-typhoon, but it is headed up the coast of Japan. Over the holiday weekend, Taiwan enjoyed fairly nice weather, even in southern areas of the island.
At present, there are two tropical storms aimed at Taiwan. Tropical Storm Parma is expected to reach Taiwan by Sunday and will probably soon achieve typhoon status. Tropical Storm 18W (Melor) is still about two days behind Parma. The effects of Melor may be dissipated by the presence of Parma, a stronger storm front.
Taiwan is still recovering from Typhoon Morakot and the most recent typhoon, Ketsana has left a wake of destruction in the Philippines. Are we prepared for another wave of typhoons?
