September 28th is Teacher's Day in Taiwan. This particular date was chosen because it coincides with the birthday of Confucius who is regarded as one of the greatest teachers in Chinese history. Today, students are supposed to visit, or give cards to in order to express gratitude for the efforts of their teachers.

The original Confucius Temples is located in China; however, many temples devoted to Confucius are scattered across Taiwan. Some of the more famous Confucius Temples are in Taipei, Tainan, Taichung and Sun Moon Lake.
