In 2008 we took a trip to Hualien to see Taroko Gorge. It was a perfect way to end our summer vacation. The weather was great but the sights were breathtaking. A definite highlight was the scooter trip through the gorge. Other nearby sites, such as Qi Xing Tan and the Ching Shui Cliffs, were equally enjoyable. Since then, we have stopped through Hualien during our around-the-island tour.

A few years ago, I guess it was 2004, some friends and I decided to take a scooter trip from Taichung to Da Jia. Luckily for us, it was the day that Matsu (媽祖) was returning to her home temple Da Jia. She had just finished her central Taiwan journey on the backs of her followers. The festival was in full swing by mid afternoon with an endless stream of fireworks raining down on those in attendance. Black smoke, noise and lots of people made it perhaps one of my most enjoyably unique experiences here in Taiwan.

A father's dream is to take his kid fishing. This morning, my dream came true. Kiera and I spent the day fishing for prawns at a nearby shop. She enjoyed the experience and is looking forward to the next time!

Kiera, 18 months, after her first day at Bizet Music and Art School, Taichung. It took her a while to get used to being away from mommy and daddy, but she was all smiles when we picked her up. Now, it is difficult to get her to leave!

This is a website dedicated to all of our adventures. Our family moved from Canada to Taiwan in the summer of 2007. We use this site to keep our family and friends abreast of what's going on in our part of the world.
